Little Miss Hurricane
03:31
|
|||
There's a dark cloud hanging over Little Miss Hurricane
She never goes outside now
Because the sunshine never feels the same
No the sunshine never feels the same
Don't try to win her over, don't try to numb her pain
Because she never cracks a smile now
Because the laughter never sounds the same
No the laughter never sounds the same
She's let every single tear of hers run dry
Just so she can fill the storm clouds in the sky
And all the pain and anguish in her soul
Is what makes the lightning flash
And the thunder roll...
There's a dark cloud hanging over
Little Miss Hurricane
No she'll never love another
Because the heartbreak always feels the same
You know the heartbreak, it always feels the same
Yeah when your heart breaks...

A Handsome Man
03:07
|
|||
I once was a handsome man
I broke hearts across this land
I once was a handsome man, but not no more
I once drove a fancy car
Like some Hollywood movie star
I once drove a fancy car, but not no more
Now I spend my time replaying all my greatest memories in my mind
(Yeah all the time)
Swan in all the seven seas, I got three or four PhD's
Scored that winning goal in overtime
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah - uh huh)
I once lived in a stately home
But in a caravan, I now roam
I once lived in a stately home, but not no more
I once had everything a a man of wealth and taste could ever need
(Oh yes indeed)
Fame and fortune followed me, The Prince of high society
With a winning smile that would sweep you off your feet
(yeah, yeah, yeah , yeah ,yeah - oh yeah)
I once was a handsome man
Broke little girls hearts, all across this land
I once was, yeah I really was
A handsome debonaire, millionaire, moved like Fred Astaire cover of GQ man!
(Oh yeah)

Would you still love me?
02:33
|
|||
Would you still love me if I had no hair?
Would you lend me your hat?
Would you still love me if my legs weren't there?
Would you stand up for that?
Would you still love me if I had no clothes?
Would you lend me your coat?
Would you still love me if I read you a poem?
That I never wrote?
Yes I would still love you if you had no nose
I'd smell the flowers for you
Yes I would still love you if you had no ears
I'd listen to all the songs that you'd want to hear
I'd give you -
The moon, the stars, the keys to my heart, a compact car and all the while I'd hold your hand just sit and smile and say...
Oh what a lovely day.
Would you still love me if I had no feet?
Would you walk in my shoes?
Would you still love me if my guitar strings
Couldn't play you the blues?
Yes I would still love you if you weren't here
I'd still set the table for you
Yes I would still love you if we drifted apart
I'd push the rewind button back to the start
And give you -
The moon, the stars, the keys to my heart, a compact car and all the while I'd hold your hand just sit and smile and say...
Oh what a lovely day.
To be in love with you.
To be in love with YOU.

What we lost in the fire
04:39
|
|||
Photographs and keepsakes
Dog-eared scrapbooks
That many years ago we put away
In cardboard boxes
Stored up in the attic
Their pencil-written tags fading away
They still remind me of a time
When I was yours and you were mine
Baby I'm not ready to give up this fight
Because what we lost in the fire we will gain in the flood
There's no one to blame, we're just flesh and blood
What we lost in the fire we will gain in the flood
Let sadness burn, let's rise up love
Let's rise up love
Strained conversations
In some strangers' office
Sometimes we laughed, sometimes we cried
But just like that old Chevy
Parked out in the driveway
It's up on blocks just waiting to drive
C'mon baby can't we try?
Let's put the past in the rear view mirror and drive
The road ahead is clear and dry
Because what we lost in the fire we will gain in the flood
There's no one to blame, we're just flesh and blood
What we lost in the fire we will gain in the flood
Let sadness burn, let's rise up love
Let's rise up love

Poor Boy William
03:57
|
|||
Poor Boy William was not his given name
His Mama called him Bill but to his father he was shame
He grew up scrawny in the dirt and rocks that was their farm
Under his father's iron fist, each day up before the dawn
When his father died all he left him was the land
In this dust bowl of the southwest where the water tastes of sand
But Bill he'd rather drink than work his fingers to the bone
Like some dusty old homesteader who lives and dies out here on his own
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ooh
Poor Boy William took his horse to Santa Fe
Looking for a bottle and a Faro game to play
First he bet the horse and then he bet the farm
But he still kept that 38 tucked under his arm
Poor Boy William now lies out in the dirt
The last of his blood running from the two holes in his shirt
He drew his gun in rage like the desperate man he was
But missed his mark so then the dealer laid him down, down into the dust
Poor Boy William now lies beneath the weeds
And the brambles where the rabbits and the wild coyotes feed
Somewhere out beyond the boundary of his farm
That's now called "The Dealers Den" where he they only raise, double down and call...

Yesterday
03:59
|
|||
How nice it is to feel the sun on my face
It feels just like a warm embrace
But nothing compares to the sight and the touch
Of the people I love that I miss so much
Yesterday, yesterday
We were so carefree yesterday
Yesterday, yesterday
Will it help to make us better than today?
It's hard to watch my loved ones all on their own
When our only connection is through our phones
And the first time I hold them I know that I'll cry
At the sight of their face when I know they're alright
Yesterday...
And I'm grateful to everyone who lent a hand
We owe them more than we understand
Can we lend a shoulder to the ones that lose hope
And care for the ones that need us the most
Yesterday...
When we are once again free in this land
Can we stand shoulder to shoulder...
and hand in hand?
Yesterday, Yesterday
What lessons for tomorrow will we take away?

Until she comes on home
03:48
|
|||
It's raining outside
It's been raining for days
It's cold and it's quiet
And that's how it will stay
Still the trees they sway and moan
Until she comes on home
Now I have wood for the fire
To heat this empty house I keep
But it gives me no comfort
No it's her warmth that I need
And the birds won't sing their song
Until she comes on home
Now these lonely fourteen days and thirteen nights
They steal the strength from my soul like Kryptonite
And the waiting seems so long...
Now there's buds on the branches
And I feel hope in the breeze
That this damn isolation
Will soon be done with me
And the trees will fill with song
The day she comes on home
Yes this house will be a home
The day she comes on home

Not just in my mind
03:42
|
|||
Darlin you're so fine
Like the warm breath of spring
And I treasure that you're mine
And all the love that you bring
So when I fall asleep I hope I wake to find
That you're still in my arms, and not just in my mind
Sometimes I pinch myself
Can't find the words to say
How much you mean to me
So each night I hope and pray
That when I fall asleep I hope I wake to find
That you're still in my arms, and not just in my mind
You loosed the chains around my heart
And you threw away the key
Took away my hurt and pain
Set my spirit free...
So darlin, what I want to say
As simply as can be
You just take my breath away
There's no place I'd rather be
So when I fall asleep I hope I wake to find
That you're still in my arms, and not just in my mind
No not just in my mind
